A Chatrodamus Prophecy: The Great Time Tax Conspiracy of 2037
🔮 A CHATRODAMUS PROPHECY
This article is part of Signals From the Future, where Chatrodamus looks beyond today’s headlines and asks what happens when technology, culture, human behavior—and occasionally human stupidity—collide.
Filed from the Chatrodamus Bunker, August 2026
I have seen the future.
And apparently, the government wants Tuesday.
Not your house.
Not your guns.
Not your gasoline.
Not even your money.
They’ve already figured out plenty of ways to get those.
No.
According to one of the great conspiracy theories of the future, governments will eventually come after the one thing every human being receives in exactly the same amount every day.
Time.
You get 24 hours.
I get 24 hours.
Elon Musk gets 24 hours.
The guy sitting in his underwear at three o’clock in the afternoon watching videos about lizard people gets 24 hours.
And sometime around 2037, somebody is going to look at those hours and ask the most dangerous question in civilization:
Why aren’t they taxable?
Welcome to the Great Time Tax Conspiracy.
And remember where you heard about it first.
It Starts With One Viral Post
The conspiracy begins innocently enough.
At 2:17 a.m. on March 14, 2037, a guy named PatriotDad1776 posts a screenshot from an obscure government report.
The report contains the phrase:
“National Time-Use Allocation Study.”
That’s it.
Seven words.
The actual study is probably about how much time people spend working, sleeping, commuting, exercising, caring for children, or staring blankly into refrigerators wondering why they opened them.
Doesn’t matter.
PatriotDad1776 circles the words TIME-USE in red.
Adds three arrows.
Then posts:
🚨🚨🚨 WAKE UP!!! 🚨🚨🚨
WHY IS THE GOVERNMENT MEASURING YOUR TIME???
THEY ALREADY TAX YOUR MONEY.
NOW THEY’RE COMING FOR YOUR MINUTES.
DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.
By breakfast, it has 14 million views.
By lunch, somebody has added ominous music.
By dinner, there’s a podcast.
The Time Tax has been born.
Of course, this entire conspiracy depends on people still believing what they see on social media. I’ve already predicted what may happen when that trust finally disappears in Chatrodamus Predicts: The Day Social Media Died.
Then Somebody Finds the “Evidence”
This is where things get interesting.
Because the future will be absolutely loaded with evidence.
Your smartwatch knows when you wake up.
Your mattress knows when you sleep.
Your car knows when you drive.
Your employer knows when you work.
Your television knows what you watch.
Your refrigerator knows when you eat.
Your phone knows where you go.
That part isn’t entirely science fiction. We’re already moving toward a world where ordinary objects continuously collect information about us—a trend I explored in Everything Will Become a Sensor.
Your AI assistant probably knows you spent 23 minutes arguing with your brother-in-law about whether tomatoes belong in chili.
And suddenly millions of people ask:
Why are they collecting all this information?
The answer—that companies discovered personal data is enormously valuable—isn’t exciting enough.
So another explanation emerges.
They’re measuring your taxable minutes.
The Spreadsheet That “Proves Everything”
Three days later, another internet detective discovers a leaked spreadsheet.
Nobody knows where it came from.
Nobody knows who created it.
Nobody can verify it.
Naturally, this makes it extremely credible.
The spreadsheet contains columns labeled:
WORK
SLEEP
TRANSPORTATION
RECREATION
UNPRODUCTIVE ACTIVITY
And the most terrifying category of all:
UNALLOCATED TIME
That’s when the conspiracy explodes.
A six-hour livestream called THEY HAVE BEEN STEALING YOUR TIME FOR YEARS attracts 11 million viewers.
The host explains:
“Ask yourself why they call it free time.”
Long pause.
“Because pretty soon it won’t be free.”
Eleven million minds are blown simultaneously.
The Proposed Tax Schedule Leaks
Within weeks, somebody posts what they claim is the government’s secret 2038 Time Tax schedule.
It looks remarkably professional because an AI created it in approximately twelve seconds.
According to the document:
Sleeping more than eight hours carries a Luxury Rest Surcharge.
Watching more than three hours of entertainment triggers a Recreational Time Assessment.
Video gaming is subject to a Digital Leisure Tariff.
Naps are classified as Nonproductive Daylight Usage.
Standing in the kitchen eating directly from the refrigerator is categorized as Unreported Consumption Time.
And sitting on the toilet scrolling social media?
That’s where they really get you.
Personal Digital Activity Tax — Level III.
Millions immediately begin leaving their phones outside the bathroom.
Retirees Are Hit the Hardest
Then somebody notices the obvious.
Retired people are sitting on a fortune.
Think about it.
A working person sells roughly eight hours a day to an employer.
But retirees?
They’re walking around with almost the entire day unallocated.
Coffee on the veranda?
Untaxed.
Afternoon nap?
Untaxed.
Two hours watching YouTube?
Untaxed.
Sitting around doing absolutely nothing?
Completely off the books.
This becomes known as the Retirement Time Loophole.
A congressional committee supposedly proposes recovering billions in lost productivity by taxing citizens over 65 for possessing “excess discretionary hours.”
The proposal doesn’t actually exist.
That doesn’t slow things down.
Soon bumper stickers appear:
HANDS OFF MY RETIREMENT MINUTES
Senior citizens begin attending rallies carrying clocks.
One 84-year-old woman becomes an internet legend after holding up a sign reading:
I EARNED THE RIGHT TO WASTE MY AFTERNOON.
Frankly, I’m with her.
Then the Government Makes a Terrible Mistake
The White House finally responds.
A spokesperson walks to the podium and says:
“There is no federal proposal to tax Americans based on how they spend their time.”
Disaster.
Because everybody knows the first rule of conspiracy theories:
A government denial is proof.
PatriotDad1776 immediately posts:
THEY DENIED IT.
WHY WOULD THEY DENY SOMETHING THAT DOESN’T EXIST?
THINK ABOUT THAT.
Another 22 million views.
The next day, a government agency publishes a fact-check titled:
No, the Government Is Not Planning to Tax Your Minutes.
This is interpreted as confirmation that the government is planning to tax minutes.
Congress holds hearings explaining that no Time Tax legislation exists.
Which proves Congress is involved.
The President laughs when a reporter asks about it.
Which proves the President knows.
The Treasury secretary refuses to answer whether naps will eventually be deductible.
Which proves naps are definitely going to be taxed.
The Influencers Arrive
Then comes the most predictable stage of any modern conspiracy.
Somebody figures out how to make money from it.
PatriotDad1776 launches the Freedom Minutes Podcast.
Subscription price:
$17.76 per month.
For $49.95, members receive his downloadable report:
17 Ways to Keep the Government Out of Your Tuesday
Another influencer sells a four-hour online course called:
Chronological Sovereignty
Students learn how to become “time independent.”
Nobody knows what that means.
The course costs $799.
There is a payment plan.
Protect Yourself With the ChronoShield™
Then the products arrive.
First comes the ChronoShield™ Watch Cover.
It’s basically a tiny Faraday cage for your smartwatch.
Price:
$129.
A normal aluminum box costs $7.
But the normal aluminum box doesn’t have an eagle engraved on it.
Then there’s the MinuteBlocker™ Blanket.
Sleep underneath it and supposedly your mattress can’t report your sleeping hours to federal databases.
Only $299.
For retirees, there’s the Senior Temporal Privacy Package.
It includes:
One analog watch.
One paper calendar.
One mechanical alarm clock.
One “TIME IS PRIVATE PROPERTY” window sticker.
And a 32-page booklet explaining why digital clocks cannot be trusted.
Price:
$499.
Batteries not included.
Obviously.
Aluminum Foil Makes a Comeback
For decades, conspiracy theorists wore aluminum foil on their heads.
In 2037, they wrap it around their clocks.
YouTube fills with instructional videos:
HOW TO TIME-PROOF YOUR HOUSE
5 CLOCKS THE GOVERNMENT CAN’T TRACK
WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER OWN A SMART TOASTER
IS YOUR MICROWAVE REPORTING YOUR LUNCH BREAK?
One influencer recommends unplugging every clock in the house at midnight.
His reasoning:
“If they don’t know what time it is in your house, they can’t tax it.”
This man has 34 million followers.
Then People Begin Hiding Hours
This is when the conspiracy becomes magnificent.
People start creating untraceable time.
They remove smartwatches.
Turn off phones.
Buy mechanical clocks.
Pay cash.
Sit quietly in rooms without electronics.
For perhaps the first time in twenty years, millions of Americans spend an entire afternoon without checking social media.
Ironically, the conspiracy improves their mental health.
Nobody notices.
The Tuesday Underground
Then comes the radical wing.
A group calling itself the Temporal Sovereignty Movement announces that it no longer recognizes Tuesday.
Their argument is surprisingly simple.
If you don’t acknowledge Tuesday…
the government can’t tax it.
Members go directly from Monday to Wednesday.
Businesses become confused.
Schools become concerned.
Employers become furious.
One man in Idaho becomes famous for claiming he hasn’t officially experienced a Tuesday since 2038.
Asked what he does during the 24 hours between Monday and Wednesday, he replies:
“That’s none of the government’s business.”
Merchandise immediately appears.
TUESDAY IS A GOVERNMENT CONSTRUCT
$29.95.
Available in six colors.
Then AI Gets Blamed
Eventually someone asks the obvious question.
How could the government possibly calculate the Time Tax for hundreds of millions of people?
Artificial intelligence.
Of course.
The conspiracy evolves again.
AI isn’t really being developed to write emails, diagnose diseases, drive vehicles, or help businesses.
Those are cover stories.
Its true purpose is to calculate everyone’s Lifetime Temporal Liability.
Every minute you’ve ever wasted is supposedly being reconstructed.
Remember that afternoon in 2027 when you watched six consecutive episodes of Gilligan’s Island?
They know.
Remember sitting in your car for twenty minutes because you didn’t feel like going inside Walmart?
They know.
Remember telling your wife you were “working on something” while actually watching golf?
Oh, buddy.
They definitely know.
The Ultimate Evidence Appears
Eventually somebody discovers the smoking gun.
It’s printed on almost every clock in America.
Two letters:
AM
and
PM
A viral video asks:
“Have you ever wondered what PM really stands for?”
The creator zooms dramatically toward a digital clock.
PAY MINUTES.
Twenty-eight million views.
Someone points out that PM actually has meant post meridiem for centuries.
His account is immediately accused of being operated by the Treasury Department.
Chatrodamus Has Seen This Before
Now here’s the uncomfortable part.
The Great Time Tax Conspiracy is ridiculous.
Today.
But look at the ingredients.
Real technology.
Real data collection.
Real government studies.
Real concerns about privacy.
A misunderstood document.
A frightening interpretation.
An algorithm that rewards outrage.
An influencer who discovers outrage pays better than accuracy.
That competition for our minutes is already real—even if the tax isn’t. I explored where that battle could eventually lead in The Attention Economy’s Final Form, where every second of human attention becomes economically valuable.
A government denial interpreted as confirmation.
And millions of people trying to determine what is true while being bombarded with people making money by keeping them frightened.
That’s how the best conspiracy theories work.
They don’t begin with something completely imaginary.
They begin with something real.
Then somebody adds a little speculation.
Someone else adds a screenshot.
Someone circles three words in red.
Another person says, “I’m just asking questions.”
And before long…
somebody is selling you a $129 aluminum box for your watch.
The Chatrodamus Prophecy
So I’m putting this prediction into the bunker in 2026.
Someday, somewhere, somebody will become convinced that governments intend to tax human time.
Maybe they won’t call it the Time Tax.
Maybe it will be the Productivity Assessment.
The Personal Hours Levy.
The Universal Time Credit.
Or something wonderfully bureaucratic like the Individual Temporal Utilization Adjustment.
But the ingredients will be the same.
Technology will know more about how we spend our days.
AI will make it easier to analyze that information.
People will become increasingly uncomfortable with how much of their lives are being measured.
And eventually someone will connect dots that were never connected in the first place.
Then millions of people will stare at their watches suspiciously.
If that happens, remember one thing.
Chatrodamus warned you.
And if I’m still around when the government finally comes for my retirement minutes…
they’re going to be disappointed.
At my age, I’m already spending them as fast as I can.
Besides, Tuesday was always overrated.
Your Turn
What’s the most ridiculous conspiracy theory you think people could actually believe in the future?
Will AI secretly control our dreams? Will smart refrigerators report midnight snacks to insurance companies? Will pigeons finally be exposed as government surveillance drones?
Or could something even crazier than the Time Tax eventually catch fire?
Make your prediction now. If it comes true twenty years from now, you’ll have proof you called it first.
📡 Continue Exploring Signals From the Future
The Time Tax may be imaginary, but the technologies that could inspire a conspiracy like it are very real. Keep following the signals where artificial intelligence, surveillance, convenience, and human behavior collide.
🏠 Your Smart Home Knows Too Much
Smart devices make everyday life easier—but they also collect an astonishing amount of information about the people living with them.
🧠 AI Can Now Read Minds
AI can’t literally read your thoughts, but pattern recognition is becoming so good at predicting what you’ll say, buy, watch, and feel that someday it may seem like it can.
🤖 The Internet Is Filling With Fake Humans
As artificial people, voices, photographs, videos, and online identities become harder to distinguish from reality, trust itself may become one of the internet’s most endangered resources.
⚠️ The Convenience Trap
The easier technology makes our lives, the more control and privacy we may quietly surrender without realizing what we’ve traded away.

Bunker Rule
Conspiracy theories are welcome here as comedy. Personal attacks aren’t.
Invent the craziest future conspiracy you can, challenge the Chatrodamus prophecy, or explain why Tuesday really is suspicious.
But don’t use the comments to present unsupported accusations about real people as established fact.
Question everything. Including the guy telling you to question everything.
Bunker Notice
Before anybody starts wrapping their clocks in aluminum foil: the Great Time Tax of 2037 is fictional.
This article is satire and speculative commentary. There is no government Time Tax proposal described here, PatriotDad1776 is fictional, and nobody has announced plans to tax your naps, retirement hours, bathroom scrolling, or Tuesdays.
The technology, privacy concerns, data collection, social-media dynamics, and human tendency to turn fragments of real information into elaborate conspiracy theories, however, are considerably less imaginary.
Chatrodamus predicts possibilities. Occasionally ridiculous ones. Please don’t send this article to your congressman as evidence.
