Welcome back to AI Watch – Big Tech Bunker Briefing, the only place where Joe Everyman gets a straight sitrep on how Washington and Big Tech are arm-wrestling over the future of machine intelligence.

And today’s dispatch reads like a cyberpunk chapter nobody asked for:

The White House just rolled out a new “National AI Standard” under President Trump — a single federal rule designed to override dozens of state AI laws already in motion.

The sales pitch?

“It’s too hard for startups to deal with 50 different state requirements.”

Sure. And Joe Everyman thinks it’s hard to get a pothole filled, yet somehow Washington has found the time to regulate consciousness itself.

One Rule to Rule Them All, One Model to Bind Them

White House “AI and Crypto Czar” David Sacks says states are passing “thousands” of AI bills and many are “onerous” or “excessive.”

That’s bureaucrat-speak for:

“We want the power, not the states.”

If this sounds familiar, it’s because it is.

This is federal preemption, the same move used to dominate banking, telecom, environmental policy, and internet regulation.

But this time it isn’t dirt, airwaves, or river water they want.

This time it’s AI itself — the emerging engine of economic, social, military, and political power.

In other words:

Eminent Domain for AI: We’re seizing your models for the good of the nation.

States Are Panicking — and for Different Reasons

The states weren’t waiting for Washington. They were already building contradictory AI rulebooks, including:

• California — strict data + bias audits
• Texas/Florida — anti-censorship protections
• New York — hiring-AI transparency
• Illinois — biometric video rules
• Colorado — the first “algorithmic discrimination” law

That Colorado one is a doozy:

If your AI says something bad about a protected group, your model might be illegal.

So yes, you can now wake up one morning as:

“An Algorithmic Criminal in Colorado.”

Chatrodamus predicts the first perp walk will include a laptop, a USB stick, and a surprised software developer asking, “Wait—what did the chatbot say NOW?”

The Big Contradiction: “Unbiased AI” vs The First Amendment

The White House claims the goal is to keep AI:

“Ideologically unbiased.”

Wonderful.
Who defines “ideological bias” these days?

Whichever party wrote the rule that day.

This is the part Joe Everyman understands instinctively. If politicians get to decide what “bias” is, then:

• Criticism becomes “disinformation.”
• Dissent becomes “algorithmic harm.”
• Humor becomes “unauthorized output.”
• Truth becomes whatever Washington certifies as truth.

You don’t need a tinfoil hat to see where this goes.

You just need a memory of the last 20 years of mission creep:

• Patriot Act
• FISA abuses
• COVID-era censorship collaborations
• IRS targeting
• Big Tech flagging “dangerous narrative deviations”

AI would be the easiest lever of all to weaponize.

The Real Issue: Control Over the Future of Thought

AI doesn’t just answer questions.
It shapes:

• information
• interpretation
• persuasion
• opportunity
• and increasingly… behavior

Whoever writes the “One National Rule” controls:

• What AI is allowed to say
• What AI is allowed to learn
• What AI is allowed to criticize
• And what AI must pretend not to know

That’s why this fight matters.

It’s not about safety.
It’s not about innovation.
It’s not even about fairness.

It’s about power — the purest kind:

The power to define acceptable thought at machine scale.

Joe Everyman’s Bottom Line

Joe can’t get basic government services without a six-month wait…

But suddenly Washington is ready to regulate synthetic cognition faster than they can deliver mail?

Yeah. Nothing suspicious about that.

This is the part every Marine, coder, farmer, trucker, engineer, and retiree understands in their bones:

If the government grabs the only switch that controls AI, it becomes a weapon.

And whoever wins the next election controls the trigger.

Don’t confuse me with a rabid liberal that goes against anything the President proposes just because they hate him and feed on regular doses of TDS. I’m just a conservative raising awareness and asking if this is a good idea. You can tell by my tone here, I am skeptical of this proposal of the Feds creating a National AI Standard and worry how it will used negatively if the Democrats somehow sneak their way back into the White House.
