The Blue Badge of Courage

Cop Rules: A plain-English look at how the justice system works in real life—beyond the headlines.

Chatrodamus supports the men and women in blue—the thin line standing between law and chaos. I’ve attended police citizen academies, participated in ride-alongs, and seen firsthand the pressure they endure every single day.

The emotional toll of being a police officer, the mental health struggles for police officers is far from what you see on those fake tv cop shows. Marriages and families broken, suicides and media bias against law enforcement is a fact of life. Real stories of police bravery are often overlooked. We owe them a debt of gratitude that is rarely acknowledged.

Their patience is nothing short of remarkable. Facing down mobs of masked agitators—Antifa, violent protesters, anarchists, drug addicts, sovereign citizens—they stay calm as rocks fly, Molotov cocktails explode, and spit lands in their faces. Police are villainized in viral soundbites and one mistake, one bad move, and their entire career is over.

Big Brother is watching. The media and political elites sit like vultures, waiting for that one image—one officer losing control—so they can play politics whichever way the wind is blowing, often playing judge, jury, and executioner in the court of public opinion.

The Double Standard

We’ve seen this pattern before:

  • Rodney King – A man high on drugs, resisting arrest, turned into a martyr by a narrative that ignored reality. When the officers were acquitted, the riots burned Los Angeles to the ground.
  • OJ Simpson – The word from above? Don’t convict him. Why? Because city leaders feared another riot. Justice took a back seat to political fear.
  • Michael Brown and George Floyd – Canonized as saints in the media, despite toxicology reports and evidence of violent behavior. And what followed? BLM riots and billions in damage to communities.

And the newest martyrs from the left: Renee Cook and Alex Pretti, two “victims” of ICE “indiscriminately murdering innocent civilians, who were only bystanders caught up in the chaos.” Yeah, FAFO is what I think.

Speaking of Michael Brown, it was 2014 and I was an American expat living in Cebu City, Philippines and happened to be watching the nightly news when I noticed something on the TV that caught my eye. One word sent shock waves through me and I listened in disbelief as the talking heads played their videos of rioting and burning in the streets of FERGUSON, Missouri! ( Founded as a suburb, it is known for the 2014 fatal shooting of Michael Brown, which sparked nationwide protests and led to major Department of Justice reforms regarding local police and municipal court practices.) In other words, they caved to black demands to avoid further looting.

My little home town, the sleepy little Missouri community where I had been born and raised until the age of fifteen, still today with a population of a little over 18,000. I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing, blacks running amok, fires set in “protest” of an African American, Michael Brown whose death at the hands of Ferguson police is where the infamous lie of “hands up, don’t shoot” got started. His death sparked nationwide protests against police brutality and racial injustice.

A grand jury did not indict the officer, and federal civil rights charges were later declined. Why no indictment? Because Michael Brown was a thug, a thief, and and according to those who knew him, an all around POS! When Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson was acquitted in court by means of self-defense the other black thugs of the community sprang into protest action, simply as a disguise to justify what they do best, looting and burning.

Now comes the start of what would be called the BLM movement, Black Lives Matter, a slogan perpetuated by the greedy black hands of those who saw an opportunity to cash in at the expense of their so-called African American brethren. Since proven to be nothing short of a money grabbing scheme. Concerns regarding the financial management of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation (BLMGNF) have led to significant scrutiny including investigations into allegations that leaders misappropriated funds. While the movement began as a decentralized social justice advocacy effort, controversies arose over the handling of millions in donations, real estate purchases, and a lack of transparency, leading to federal investigations in 2025. In other words: a scam perpetrated by blacks on blacks.

What About the Police?

Trials of officers accused of “excessive force” are often show trials—appeasements to mobs—and when the smoke clears, most end in acquittals. But by then, the damage is done: careers ruined, families destroyed. Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson was quietly shuffled off in what some describe as the witness protection program but his career as a police officer was over.

What About ICE?

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is the largest investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), charged with preventing terrorist and criminal activity by targeting the people, money, and materials that support terrorist and criminal organizations. And as of February 2026 embroiled in resistance by state sanctuary policies to inhibit and disrupt attempts by ICE to do the job ordered by President Trump, to root out and deport criminal illegal aliens. The Democrats are against this because they don’t want to lose their voting block, fear of losing their bought and paid for with taxpayer dollars in Minnesota, Somali scammers. The abuse of American largesse, their refusal to assimilate, their fraud schemes involving fake child care centers is all coming out. Governor Tim Walz and Somali congresswoman, Ilhan Omar are under fire for their participation and oversight of the scams.

The Real Courage

The men and women of law enforcement don’t just wear a badge—they carry a target on their backs. And yet, every day, they show up. They stand between order and anarchy, often without thanks, often without backup, and always under a microscope. As someone who has done multiple ride-alongs with patrol officers and seen what they are up against, my conclusion is they are not paid nearly enough.
